When the Mars chocolate plant opened on the West Side of Chicago in 1929, it was hailed as one of the most unique and forward-thinking factories in the world; distinct for its Spanish revival architecture, beautiful gardens, and bright and airy working conditions. Over the course of 95 years, this facility underwent many expansions and adaptations as Mars itself emerged from a sea of Chicago confectioners to become one of the largest privately owned companies on Earth. With the announcement of the factory’s closure in 2024, this commemorative yearbook was commissioned to trace the history of “the CHI” plant and the team of Associates who helped maintain its efficiency and reputation in its final year.

“I think the book turned out great, and the feedback has been nothing short of amazing. Everyone loved it! Even the print shop reached out just to say what a great looking book it is. The people who regularly deal with the Mars account said that it’s one of the best things they’ve ever been asked to print.” –Al Ruiz, C.I. Engineer, Mars Wrigley, Chicago
